After packing up our stuff from our first night in Söderhamn (Skärsö skärgård) we jumped in the car again and headed north. The road signs said Sundsvall.
Erik picked up a mascot on the way. How can you go on a road trip without a mascot?
We stopped on a dreamy beach alongside the coastal road (Kustvägen) to Sundsvall to heat some food we brought and take a swim.
Found bucket after bucket of wild raspberries. One for my grandmother and one for me.
When the signs are starting to show Haparanda you know you're getting closer to the north.
But first a pit stop to visit my grand parents and uncle in Sundsvall. Even though it was just an hour I can't pass Sundsvall without just saying hi. How cool is my grandpa? 84 years old in a baseball sweater and jeans <3
We continued on, and pretty soon we passed the High Coast Bridge / Högakustenbron that was more scenic than I actually thought it would be.
We finally found a nice spot in Örnsköldsvik to watch the sunrise, so blew up the air mattress, made our little camper bed and made ourselves comfortable grilling some vego burgers with lettuce, roasted onions, avocado, and aioli. But we soon realized that the campsite we found was far too busy with cars that passed. So we packed up again and moved on to a new spot - Gullviks havsbad.
Who would think that it would be this cozy to sleep in a small Ford Mondeo?
We butter-fried the chanterelles we had found the day before over the Trangia stove, threw them on crispbread. The raspberries ended up as a sweet oatmeal topping, a few eggs, and we were ready to conclude, you will not get a breakfast at home.
Next up: The northern metropols Umeå / Piteå / Luleå
